I am the author of several works of fiction, including short stories, and a children’s book: Don’t Throw My Teeth on the Roof! My short story, “A Pocket Full of Stories,” was published in an anthology by Harper Collins, Of Sadhus and Spinners.
I am currently working on a collection of interlinked short stories about migrant workers in New York City, entitled Shadow People. One of the stories from my collection, “Bamboo Wedding,” was published in the literary magazine Aster(ix). Another short story, “One of the Family,” is forthcoming in The Maine Review.
One story from the collection, “Yellow Girlfriend” was one of the Top-25 finalists for the Glimmer Train July/August Fiction Open and another story “Redtooth Triggerfish,” was one of the Top-25 finalists for the Glimmer Train May/June 2017 Short Story Award for New Writers contest. My story “One of the Family,” received an honorable mention in the Glimmer Train Nov/Dec 2017 Family Matters contest.
I am an editorial board member of the literary magazine Transition. Together with the novelist Jared Thomas, I co-edited a special issue of Transition on “Bla(c)kness in Australia.” I am also a reviewer for the Australian Book Review, where I have reviewed Teju Cole’s Known and Strange Things and Gareth Stedman Jones’ Karl Marx: Greatness and Illusion.
