I am the author of several works of fiction, including short stories, and a children’s book: Don’t Throw My Teeth on the Roof! My short story, “A Pocket Full of Stories,” was published in an anthology by Harper Collins, Of Sadhus and Spinners.
I am currently completing a collection of interlinked short stories about migrant workers in New York City, entitled Shadow People. Stories from the collection have appeared in New Ohio Review, The Maine Review and Aster(ix) and forthcoming in Saranac Review. I am at work on a novel about Goan migrants in coastal Karnataka during the colonial wars of the eighteenth century.
I am an editorial board member of the literary magazine Transition. Together with the novelist Jared Thomas, I co-edited a special issue of Transition on “Bla(c)kness in Australia.”
I am a reviewer for the Sydney Review of Books, where I have reviewed Suneeta Peres da Costa’s novella Saudade and American Dirt and Act of Grace. I am also a reviewer for the Australian Book Review, where I have reviewed Teju Cole’s Known and Strange Things and Gareth Stedman Jones’ Karl Marx: Greatness and Illusion.
